High-Speed Internet
High-Speed Internet for our Community
Background and Current Stauts
For a long time, Elk Falls Ranch property owners, along with neighboring property owners (Woodside, Mountain View Lakes, Douglass Ranch), have expressed dissatisfaction with lack of high speed internet in our neighborhoods.
To make a long story short, in 2021, Highline (an internet service provider and formerly known as South Park Telephone (SPT)), was awarded a $2.4 million grant, from the State of Colorado, to bring fiber optic technology to our communities and Staunton State Park. The grant will cover about half of the total project cost. Highline will cover the rest.
While there have been many obstacles along the way, we are finally at a point where cable is being laid and homes are being readied for installation. We currently expect to see project completion in September/October, 2025.
If you are on the Interest List you will soon be contacted by mail and/or phone to schedule installation and select a plan. If you have not already signed up, you can call Highline Sales at 888-212-0054, #1. Additionally, there will soon be Highline representatives in the area with sign-up tents and/or making door-to-door visits.
Fiber Route and Design
The fiber route will start in Pine Junction, run along 285 into the project area with five legs:
Mount Evans into Woodside,
S. Parker Road into Mountain View Lakes
S. Elk Creek Road, into Staunton and Elk Falls Ranch
From Corner of Ella Road and Hwy 126 (Pine Valley Road), north on Hwy 285 to S. Hwy 285 Frontage Road and then east of Douglas Ranch Road
The project is both an aerial and underground build. The aerial portion will be strung on CORE poles and will follow the power footprint. If power to your dwelling is above ground, then the fiber will be run above ground. If power to your dwelling is buried, then fiber will also be buried.
Pricing
Monthly service costs with Highline will typically be less or similar to what we pay for various services now. There is tiered pricing depending on how much speed you purchase. Additionally, we will be able to purchase unlimited phone service for $29/month! Click here for pricing details.
What to Expect for Equipment
Highline has a brochure which contains simple descriptions of the equipment that will be used during the installation phase. All the equipment is very small and non-obtrusive. See below for Page 1 and Page 2 of the brochure for what to expect at your home. Additionally, you'll be able to personalize your WiFi, set parental controls and monitor all your devices with the ease of an app.
Sign up Information
Residents may get on the Interest List by calling 888-212-0054, #1. Early sign-up ensures you will receive the reduced installation fee of $200.00. (Waiting until after construction crews leave the area will be extremely expensive.) The Commitment Process is no longer needed, so please ignore any prior information about Commitment Forms.
